First Step - BlogFlash2012: Journey

Energy shimmered within the stone arch, distorting the trees beyond.  In the deepening night, the forest wavered as if through water. The hair on Harlan’s arms tingled with the lightning that crackled across the gate. He was ready to cross, but his feet refused.

Harlan took a deep breath.  He was certain of this path.  It was the only way to save the kingdom, and Princess Tarina.

He stepped through, like diving into freezing water, and wondered if he would ever feel Tarina’s gentle lips on his again.
