New age music interlaced with susurrating ocean waves filled the air while
languid flames swayed in their votives, the only light in the otherwise dark room.
Lillian closed the door, disrobed, and slid between the sheets, burying her
nose in the clean-smelling cotton and closing her eyes. The street noise had vanished. She could be in misty Tibet or miles
beneath the Pacific for all she knew - or cared. She heard a gentle knock at the door.
“Come.” She squirmed inwardly, hearing the door open and shut.
“It’s good to see you, Mrs. Cranston.” The male voice was
low, lazy and resonant. “How long has it been?”
”Too long, Tony.” She chuckled, nervous and eager. The stool creaked. Then the swish-swish of oil on skin was followed by a pervasive aroma of citrus and lavender.

“Rough week?”
“Ugh, rough month.” She
refused to think about all the things that had sent her here. Tony tucked the
sheets down and lifted her hair off her neck.
“Relax.” His large warm
hands glided from her neck, down her spine, around her hips and back up again and again,
each stroke milking tension from her soul. She sank deeper into the table as he kneaded and stroked her shoulders, liberating the knots and cares his sure hands found there. “You’re in good hands
here.”
“I know. The best.” Lillian smiled for the first time in days.

Sorry, I had to break word count on this one. I used to be a massage therapist and relaxing is serious business for me. Not something to skimp on. Thanks for your indulgence.

Great summer reading!

If only you lived near me... (raises hand for free massage) lol. Makes you wonder what exactly happened the month before for this character.
ReplyDeleteOoooo, wonderful!!! Makes me want to run back to the spa!!! :)
ReplyDeleteReally wish you could send Tony round to mine, but I would be interested to know why her month had been a bad one. Nicely written. :)
